Melbourne Cable Park is Australia’s first and only inclusive and fully accessible Wake Park

We aim to normalise disabilities in the water sport platform. How we achieve this:

Venue

Full access to all areas of the venue, flat wide concrete pathways lining both lakes to ensure easy access for all abilities. Disabled bathrooms, including roll in showers with fold down seating and a dry area to get changed.

Accessible Program

We at the Melbourne Cable Park are very enthusiastic about demystifying the stigma that surrounds living with a disability and not being able to partake in water sports. We want to close the gap between able bodied and disabled people and encourage those living with ailments to have the confidence to give things a go.

This program has been custom designed for those with physical and cognitive challenges to create an environment of support and inclusion, while focusing on making what seems impossible, possible. Our goal is to have an activity that everyone can enjoy together, regardless of ability.

We have highly trained staff running the accessible program, who are familiar with a range of individual needs and are focused on making the experience as fun and safe as possible.

On the water

Safety is paramount to us; we have been working extremely hard to ensure everyone is comfortable and able to enjoy the lake. We have highly trained staff who can accompany you on the cable, riding alongside you with tips and tricks so you get the most out of your experience. Our safety boat will be waiting to come and collect you once your ride is over and has been adapted to everyone’s needs, please see video example below.

Equipment

All adaptive equipment is included in your ticket purchase, including wetsuit, helmet, and life jacket hire.

We have bucket sizes ranging from small to large. There is the option to run the cable at a slower pace. Quick release straps to allow for easy release from the bucket when in the water. Life jackets will ensure your safety in the water, while waiting for the boat to come and collect you and your guide. (?dot point)

First Timers

Ideal for newcomers or those unfamiliar around water. The larger surface area increases stability, and the cable is run at a much slower pace to ensure safety. Having the option to always have a guide on the board with you, as well as the safety boat following behind. This option is suitable for those who have little to no grip strength.

We are all so different yet so much the same. Please let us know if you have any special requirements below.
